le premier jour

Yesterday Paris was a whirlwind of sounds, sights and smells to my jet-lagged senses. The airport was a hilarious fiasco (that wasn't quite so funny at the time) and then we we took a taxi to our hotel. We ate lunch in a café while watching the royal wedding. C'est parfait, except for the food which I am trying to forget about—soggy bread with cheese on it and french fries that tasted like smoke. But we wont talk about that—it does not count as my first meal in Paris! Then we went with the group on a boat ride on the Seine which was of course, stunning. That night we passed out at eight—32 hours sans sleep!

Today was perfect. We woke up and wandered around, had an amazing Fallafel in the Jewish quarter, bought fresh flowers at the market, and drove to Le Vésinet where we will be living for the next seven weeks. Our host mom is incroyable and took us to Chateau St. Germain and on a drive through tour of Le Vésinet. Then we ate dinner out on the patio avec Nannick (our host mom) and Eloise, who is living in an apartment attached to the house. We ate soup, chicken, cheese, salad and fresh strawberries with cream for dinner. It was so lovely, and I am so lucky to be here!

Photos:
1. Pastries. I have yet to try one, but soon!
2. A cat atop Pur Bar. C'est Parfait, n'est-ce pas?!
3. The flower shop where we bought a lovely bunch of white daisies
4. Jewish Quarter
5. Cool art school, et un garçon in front of it.
6. At the chateau avec one of my my roommates, Holly.

  1. Not to be creepy at all, but now that you have a blog I love stalking you! Ha! Just throwing that out there. I love your pictures A LOT. I'll probably say that often, but it's true. Macaroons are insanely good. You must try the pastries! Along with crepes. The best crepe I've ever had is near the Notre Dame at Haagen Daaz. If you ever walk down the streets, you need to try one! I was about to ask if that was a real cat. Mais oui, c'est absolutement parfait. I don't even know if I'm writing this right. I am in love with your oxford shoes. I've tried to find a pair that don't look boyish, but sadly I've never found one. Really neat you went to the Jewish Quarter!
